This is a delightful historic hotel. So quaint and personal in every way. It has a sense of place like few hotels have. I enjoyed, and indulged in, exploring and hanging out in different spots all over the hotel--the courtyard/pool area, lobby, breakfast/happy hour nooks and crannies, balcony, even the hallways. It's a destination in itself.

I don’t usually take the time to write reviews, but this hotel absolutely deserves one. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly professional, welcoming, and genuinely kind. The level of service here is honestly the best I’ve experienced in years. Everyone made me feel comfortable and taken care of without it ever feeling forced or overdone. The rooms are beautiful, spotless, and very comfortable — especially the beds. I slept better here than I have in a long time. The energy of the place is calm and peaceful, which made it easy to relax and really enjoy my stay. Being right in front of the beach with those views was the icing on the cake. Waking up to that every day was something special. I’m very grateful for the experience and will absolutely be coming back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, well-run place with great people and a great location.

We loved our stay here. If you want to stay at a great location (steps from the beach and a short walk to State St.) for what was for us at the time of booking $50-100 less a night than other hotels in the area, this charming inn is the place to stay. It is definitely an inn as opposed to a luxury hotel, but it was well cared for by the staff who were all very kind and accommodating to us. It's kitschy and comfy and feels like a much loved home. Some aspects may be a little outdated, but we found our beds and room to be clean and tidy. We enjoyed the hot tub. Best of all, we got a larger room than expected with an extra bed (a king and a twin) and two balconies, one facing the pool with a beach view and one facing the street with a mountain view. It was quiet, too. Any pool noise shut down at a reasonable hour and we never heard guests in other rooms. We really enjoyed our stay at the Villa Rosa Inn and hope to come back in the future.

My family really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious and clean. We loved staying in the 2 bedroom. It's very close to State Street. We enjoyed walking to a restaurant for dinner and then getting some ice cream before heading back to the room. It very close to the beach and pier. Melody checked us in and she was extremely kind and helpful. Thank you for the great stay!

From what I read this hotel was built in the 1930s. And it's very clear from the charm and eccentric decor they have tried to stay true to the times it was built. I absolutely loved staying here. The rooms were clean, staff was friendly and I genuinely loved the charm of this little hotel. The location is perfect! Only a 5 minute walk from the Amtrak station, and it's literally across from the beach. I could see the pier from my balcony. Now the building was built prior to sound proofing. So yes, you can hear your neighbor's footsteps and pipes rattle when the shower turns on. But it didn't bother me. There's a few things that could be updated in the rooms. But overall the charm outweighed the necessary improvements and I would absolutely stay here again.

We had a fantastic stay at Villa Rosa Inn! We called at 11:00 PM on a Friday night looking for a last-minute room, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. We were pleasantly surprised with an amazing suite that included a full kitchen, living room, and bedroom with two full-size beds—perfect for our needs. The staff was also incredibly considerate in allowing us a late checkout until 1:00 PM so we had enough time to get ready for my cousin’s wedding nearby. The room was spotless, very well maintained, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, which is always appreciated when getting ready for an event. The location is hard to beat, just steps from the beach, and the views from our room were absolutely beautiful. Overall, the combination of outstanding customer service, comfortable accommodations, and a great location made for a wonderful experience. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Villa Rosa Inn to anyone visiting Santa Barbara.
